FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Because the hair in the back and the sides is still growing longer, this is enough of a change to look different as time progresses. But in reality, you have to realize that other people are far too concerned with other things to notice subtle details like that. The only thing they’ll notice is that your hair looks thicker, fuller, and that you look several years younger!
The cost of cutting in a piece from elsewhere is $250. Call 416-631-7857 or send us an email to schedule an appointment.
No problem. We shave down any remaining hair to 1/16″ before applying the system to ensure a strong and undetectable bond.

Provided attachment and adhesives are chosen carefully, none at all. Traction alopecia and other scalp problems only occur when using adhesives that are not FDA/Health Canada approved, or after the prolonged use of clips for attachment, which is not recommended. For safest results, always use approved tapes and glues.
Come in and discuss your options and we’ll make some choices together. We then take a template, a hair sample, a wave sample and discuss your styling options. You place a deposit, and we place your order. It takes 12 weeks for your system to come in, and only a couple of hours to cut-in and walk you through maintenance.
If for any reason you are unable or live too far to attend at our salon, we invite you to email us for a Skype consultation and ee can then discuss your options.

Sizing stock hair systems is easy, we prepare a template and size it to fit. Our stock systems are here to provide a service for people who are in a rush. We can offer a $100.00 discount if one of our stock units suits you. If you have the time, it’s always best to wait a few months for a custom system.
The hair system used in videos are skin injection and lace fronts using Virgin Remy hair and was custom designed here at New Roots Studio and made at our overseas factory following knotting styles used in Movies for the most natural results. The systems attached with glue in the front. We can show you similar systems if you come in for a free consultation, at which point we can let you try a Movie Hair system on if you wish, and see the difference it will make on you. We feel it’s very important for you to see what the hair will look like on you before you buy.
No, the hair can be washed and styled like any other head of hair, and can be designed to perfectly accommodate your chosen style.
Absolutely. Most adhesives are meant to be water-proof and will hold up to a swim. If you intend on doing frequent swimming make sure you let us know, and we’ll help you choose an adhesive that works best for prolonged periods in the water.
3 to 4 months looking it’s best if it is worn daily and slept in. Some clients find they can go longer.
It is very hard to get real clients to put their photos online. We do have 3 different clients who have let us use their photographs and videos, and we are working on finding more. But privacy is the reason we aren’t able to show a wide variety of clients.
We offer a free hair system to anyone who lets us film and post their cut-in on our website.
You always get what you pay for. We use top quality hair and it is up to the user to style and care for their hair. We do not have this issue with our systems, due to the type of hair and the quality of how we produce our products.
We offer a 30 day guarantee for any manufacturing defects.
Having 2 always comes in handy especially if you live any distance from our salon, you will save money and cut down travel time by cutting in more than one system per visit. You can also use the first one while the second is being repaired or styled.
Yes, it can be done long distance. We have clients from all over the world. This way we can design the hairline and system for you personally. Once we have your design we do not need it again for many years in most cases. If you know a good stylist that can cut and style the hair system in for you, you’re good to go!
That said, if you are too far to come in, there are options. We can arrange to help you get a template made in your hometown or show you how to make your own, and get you a system, wherever you are. Other options may also be available.
Frequent sweating can require you to de-bond, clean and re-attach more often, but not in all cases. It depends on your choice of adhesive and how well it resists your sweat. Everyone’s body chemistry is a bit different. Through experimentation, we can usually find an adhesive method and attachment routine that works best for even our most physically active clients.
The system uses 100% human hair and therefore you use normal shampoo and conditioner. Instead of scrubbing with your fingers, we recommend you wash through it with a brush. You can find our videos on that to get you up to speed on all maintenance and care issues under the how-to tab of this website or on YouTube under New Roots.
Yes, although I recommend salon quality products to ensure your hair system is well-taken care of for as long as possible.
I recommend you avoid intense heat as it can destroy the hair system. Always use low-heat on your blow dryer.
Yes, you can shower with the system on. The amount of time and clean-up depends on the attachment method you picked. At regular intervals you will still need to de-bond the system and deep clean it.
Once you get good at it, 30-45 minutes is all it will take.
It all depends on how you choose to attach it. With tape, 7-10 days. With glue, depending on the type and your preference, you can last up to 3-5 weeks. Regardless of the method you choose, the front hairline should always be cleaned once every 7-10 days. This is very easy to do at home and we can show you how it’s done.
This is often called a bond/debond. We recommend you do it once a week to once every 10 days or so to keep things as fresh as possible. However, many clients prefer to do a ‘perimeter bond’ which allows them to go up to a full month between detachments.
